Finally found the cell pics I'd taken of this amazingly scented lil bloom.
I'd love to know what it was/is...so I can possibly propagate some with permission.
“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

Lin - that would be amazing but I just don't know of any shrub-type Jasmine that's hardy to 7a

I might suggest Osmanthus fragrans. The newer leaves on Osmanthus have smooth edges, while the older ones have a bit of serration. Mine just finished blooming here in California.
Gee, I should remember to enlarge the photos ... especially with my bad eyesight! Is the shrub in bloom now or were the photos from a different time of year? It looks so familiar.

Sherry - font you just love tea olives?!! I don't remember the older leaves looking like the Tea Olives. Next time I'm down there I'll need to look at them.
Lin - no worries, I appreciate everyone's help! It bloomed in the spring.

This one is really stumping me ... I've looked at hundreds of photos but still haven't found a match. I thought possibly Abelia but not sure the blooms are a match. My eyes are not the best (past due for cataract removal) so I'm just making wild guesses.
I do see the leaves appear opposite along the stems, do the flowers have 4 petals or 5?
