I have to admit, this one is going to take me quite some time to fix. I need to get a Windows computer and try to see it happen to myself, and that may take some time. There's no Windows or Macs in our house, so....
In the meantime, there's no need to continue to report the problem. I'm aware of it and will get to it when I can. Until then, just scroll up an inch each time you enter a thread.
On an iPod the navigation is extra wide because the home icon is on one line and the other icons on the next line, doubling the depth. When I tap done for typing this the bar comes down so far I can't see what I wrote without scrolling.

This is also happening on my phone.
