Ted, here is a glimpse of why another Orchid was renamed to Brascidostele.

Confused It occurs to me that the folks trying to keep up with accurate names for the database on this site should probably just put a disclaimer saying "this may or may not be the correct name this week"......

So very true, Alice. Rolling my eyes. Shrug! Ted, I think I have or had a plant with similar flowers, but can't locate it until it blooms again. Nice one though!

One of my new plants, Bc. Keowee 'Mendenhall' just opened and already has been battered by the monsoon rain we had last night.

Oh, it's gorgeous, Lindsey. I guess the screening of the cage must protect my plants just enough because we got over an hour's extreme rain last night as well, but everybody seems to be ok this morning. Just some blooms dropped that were pretty much done anyway,

We need some rain but I am not looking forward to Matthew swinging by us later this week. I don't think it will amount to much but I'll still bring a noid Den in spike and Patricia McCulley, she has been blooming for months, inside. Quirky weather is what keeps me from becoming a complete nerd, don't think I could manage many dozens of orchids like most here have.

BTW, our Publix had a special hanging display of Vanda's yesterday. There were some outstanding colors, sizes and shapes. Some with tiny 1/2" flowers and others with 5" flowers. I couldn't get a picture because people were swarming and grabbing them, it looked like Filene's basement when they have wedding dresses.

Alice, are you from Boston?....Filene's Basement was my favorite store..I loved everyone just stripping down and trying on clothes in the aisle...for those of you not familiar with Filene's ..it was a no frills kind of place...no dressing rooms AT ALL! ...and often fights would break out with 2 women each clinging to a corner of a piece of clothing and it would become a real tug of war!

LOL, We lived less than a block away in an apt. on the 39th floor on Devonshire Street in the Financial District for 18 very long months. I was in Filene's every week at a minimum. Foreign visitors would just undress in the aisles and try things on. Nothing like moving around a rack of clothes and coming face to face (or whatever) with a naked person. If I ever go back to Boston that might be the first place I go. The old store downtown is owned by the employees - most of whom have been there forever - there is no connection to the Filene's in the burbs.

Lindsey, I think we have been following each other over the years, we also lived on the Wicomico River on the Eastern Shore of MD.

Ooh, stunning. Love the colors on the Kuwale Gem, somehow the crisp white just sets off the vivid colors so nicely.
