Gardening A Perfect antidepressant
In June I obtained a coleus. I love the plant it grew quite easily and was a very healthy plant due to my attention to the plant it thrived in growth but the color I was confused on. At the time I was not familiar with the rustic orange coleus either. Still the coleus was multiple colors to start it had leaves that were pink and green some rustic orange , maroon colors . So through the summer it got yellowish orange bleached out green pink so I moved it to very warm shade and its colors went to alot of splashed maroon color and green and pink...so now I have broke the plant down gave a small amount to my daughter that was very green and orange yellowish color Im gonna add a pic asap of that too and a few others to help with my not very good descriptions of colors. So is this abnormal??or a disease my plant has? some of the new growth of the one I have has deformed leaves , They are not growing out to normal shapes? what does this mean?

What about the leave's not growing out to correct shapes? That is normal sometimes too? I already pinched them away and new ones are growing. Im adding pic of the coleus maroon , his current state.
Also I propagated him and he never rooted instead he hollowed out the inside turned to slime.
Since those hollowed out I got 2 new pieces of coleus and they have rooted. So I don't feel it was something I done wrong, but idk what to think.

Since those hollowed out I got 2 new pieces of coleus from 2 different coleus plants and they have rooted. So I don't feel it was something I done wrong, but idk what to think. Maybe I did something wrong to those.

Coleus usually will root, but sometimes they just rot like that - no idea why but it might be just something as simple as that stem was nicked, or not healthy in the first place, or some bacteria or disease organism was on or in the stem.

Your daughter's plant is really gorgeous. It will make lots of different colors as the weather changes. Don't go pinching off leaves just because they aren't perfect, though. Little things like moving the plant from bright light to dim, or change in temperature (had some cold nights yet?) can make them grow a little wonky but they're still feeding the plant.

Plants, like people, are never "perfect" and sometimes they do just die, with no apparent reason so keep that in mind as you grow your plants and learn.

It's pouring rain here, Pamela so I have time on my hands whenever I can't get outside.

This is like gardening, only indoors in the a/c and no bugs or dirt either. Kinda fun. But not as fun as getting dirty.
