LOVE those birds Ann, a Scarlet tanager and Bluebirds can we get any more colorful than that?
What eye popping action shots!! You should consider submitting these to Birds and Blooms magazine.
Mika, Christine and Jack, what super multi insect shots and all such varity. Jack I'm especially fond of the last and third to last pictures in the collection. They really and truly are incredible takes.
"My work is loving the world. Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird — equal seekers of sweetness. Here the clam deep in the speckled sand. Are my boots old? Is my coat torn? Am I no longer young, and still not half-perfect? Let me keep my mind on what matters, which is my work which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished." — Mary Oliver, from Messenger
I had a very busy day but managed to get a few shots in. The first group were on the little Heath Asters growing across the lane from my driveway in the neighbor's waste area(I see more life in those places usually anyway) by his garages. It's where I think my driveway plant came from last week, but I collected some seeds to scatter ::wink wink::

Thank you Cheryl for the sweet compliments.
Love those shots on the little asters.
Glen's bees are so adorable I just want to hug them.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown
Today the rains abated, the clouds parted, and the sun finally emerged, as did I to check on critter activity. None in the morning, only one frenetic bee around midday. However, in late afternoon, a few small winged visitors finally arrived on the scene.
First, my reddish brown wasp put in a brief appearance.
Then I checked out the Russian Sage and spotted a very small and very elusive sweat bee?
It didn't hang around very long, but the wasp had returned to the Autumn Fire Sedum for a protracted modeling session.
When the wasp exited the scene again, a small bumble bee was bouncing around the Russian Sage and permitted a quick shot before disappearing into the interior of the shrub.
Then it was time to sit down at the computer and review the results.

Nice Mars!
That little one is a fly though, not a sweat bee
We have snow up here in the high country, and I did snap a bee here the other day at my mom's house but I haven't had a chance to look at the card yet to see if any of the pics came out...
Got some nice fall leaves though

This is quite tiny. I love it when they sit in the middle of large flat surfaces. My camera focusses on them instead of a distant irrelevant background.
Joy.
Added. It is on a small daylily leaf for scale.
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.

I managed to get some bees this year for my sunflower patch. I should have used my hubby's camera instead of this phone, but hey, it got the picture. lol
