Dave,
I have been having a problem when I do alot of navigation on the site. It just sits when I try to go somewhere and says waiting.
I have found whenever this happens, I just get out of the site and come back in and it is fine and gets there with no problem. I think too much navigation causes this.??

The other is as though everything is a miracle

Waiting for the answer on this one. It's been happening to me also. It will run along great and them all of a sudden it acts like I haven't asked for it to move to another link.

I see this all the time, too, and I know all about it. The launch of the database has added a huge new workload to the server. This is, of course, great news and I'm thrilled for that. This overloaded server "problem" is a great problem to have, because it means that we're doing well, having a lot of activity on the site and lots of pages being viewed.

1) The code for the site and especially the database still has areas that I can re-write to optimize to make them run faster. But I'm pretty quickly running out of those low-hanging fruit items that make big differences in site performance. But I do still have a few things to try.

2) The bigger issue is that I'm going to need to get a faster server for us sometime, sooner rather than later. The server we're on now is great but small. It only has 1.7G of memory which is less than most desktop computers. My $300 laptop has more memory than our server. I'm hosting at Amazon.com and to go to the next server size up quadrupels my monthly rate. So, I need to think of what is the best option here.

I have considered building a new box with a huge amount of memory and hosting it in Dallas like I did with DG. The only real downside to that is this route is also a bit expensive, and when there is hardware problems I have to go to Dallas on short notice to handle it. With Amazon, I just click a button on their website and a new server is brought online and the old one goes away.

Anyway, this is the status update on that. The summary here, I guess, is that this is a very high priority item for me.

isn't there a Server Farm in Jacksonville you could use ?
none of the master hosts i have used quadrupel their next upgrade.
seems excessive for Amazon, but then they do have a lock on cloud services.
i know you will work out a solution you always do.

If I had won the lottery, I'd buy you a new massive server.

Thanks for all you do for us, Dave.

I might have to wait for repairs to the dish we receive our internet from before I do much uploading to the plant database. Sometimes it's actually tolerable online, but quite often we lose the net repeatedly.

I was experiencing a lot of that same stuff too. Yesterday my laptop (my computer) got a tune up & we put Google Chrome on it & put the IE on the back burner. All day yesterday, last night & today I have had no problems. Chrome seems to be doing the job. Not saying there won't be slow downs but things are going much better than before.

Dave, I agree with the others --- you've got it under control & will do what you need to do & whatever that is will be right.

Perhaps this would be the appropriate time to ask ---- the guy wanted to give me (sell me) more RAM to increase my speed. I replied that I could run a small country from this thing like it is. And he replied, "but how fast?" And then I'm thinking that I can only go as fast as the wireless air card (sierra air card) allows no matter how much RAM I have. I know people generally think bigger is better but...... it's all relative --- or is it?
Feedback please.

If you have 4 gigs of memory, I don't think more than that will have much of an impact on your computer these days.

I have a 1 gig RAM & a 2 gig processor. I really don't know a whole lot about these kinds of techno things. Here's some of my reasoning. If it will make this laptop considerably faster now then I can pop for it but when we get the house built I will get a new desk top computer & it can have the proper bells & whistles so if adding to this won't do all that much for me now then I might be better off waiting.
