This is a link to NHC for Matthew info. They have links to their forecast (Discussions), Tracking Probabilities and a whole bunch of other accurate and up to date info.

https://www.wunderground.com/h...

Wunderground just formats it in a more understandable and simpler interface. But all the info and graphs come from NHC.

He should be okay. No rain is forecast for the area. We are actually having a very dry spell now. It's just windy.

Are they driving or flying? The airports will be open again tomorrow, but a whole lot (thousands) of flights are cancelled for today.

My daughter just started a job this Monday with ST. Lucie county in Florida. She is working in their "Media" division, but she is considered "Emergency Priority one", which means she will stick around when everyone else goes. She was supposed to go up in a Policy Helicopter to take pictures of the beach (for a before and after), but her boss went up (ya, second day of work, lets send you up in a helicopter!!). Can you top that? Well, yes I can.

Who is that you ask?

Thumb of 2016-10-07/Misawa77/900ecd

That is Governor Rick Scott of Florida. He came to my daughters work place to hold a news conference on Wednesday. She is operating the TV camera directly in front of him (there were at least 5 other TV/network types on either side of her).

The storm "missed" my daughters town/county (Port St. Lucie) and they are starting cleanup. Here is the website quote:

Hurricane Matthew

Latest Updates

The Port St. Lucie Police Department has reported that residents who need to leave their homes and use the roads, may do so now. But please continue to use caution and be careful. There are still some smaller tree limbs on the roadways, and some traffic lights are still running on generators.

A message from Port St. Lucie Mayor Gregory J. Oravec

Good morning, Port St. Lucie.

At 8:00 a.m., the City is awaking to find that we were and are very, very fortunate. The brunt of Matthew stayed just off our coast. Most of the City experienced tropical storm force winds, not those of a major hurricane.

Preliminary assessments have revealed that damage is relatively light and localized. All of our water, wastewater and stormwater facilities are fully functional. The City was well prepared, and we are seeing the results of that preparation this morning.

We are working to make sure our roads are safe, especially so that we can facilitate FPL’s efforts to restore electricity to the roughly 41,000 customers who are without it. We ask that residents please stay off of the roads this morning so that we can address this priority.

We encourage residents to call 772-873-NEWS for the latest updates; 1-800-4-OUTAGE to report a power outage; 772-871-5285 to report downed trees, signs and flooding; and, of course, 9-1-1 for any emergency. Residents can also report concerns relating to City services or conditions through their mobile devices using the AccessPSL smartphone application.

We owe many people, many thanks. Our entire emergency management team at the City and County and all the way up to the state performed at the highest level. We prepared for the worst, and given the circumstances, our hopes for the best came to be. In fact, as we are heartened here locally, it is important to recognize that many in the Bahamas and the Caribbean were not so fortunate and that our friends to the north are still in harm’s way. Also, we must stay vigilant in light of Matthew’s forecasted loop back. We will learn more and prepare for that threat in the days ahead.

Until then, information will continue to be made available on the City’s website at www.cityofpsl.com/hurricanematthew and on City’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Again, our thanks go to our emergency management team and you, our citizens, who prepared, helped each other and did what we had to do to weather this storm.

Be safe everyone and don't be like me. I just finished up in the heavy rain dividing and repotting some hostas. 6 more varieties to go.Gotta take advantage of free water when we can here.

Rain started around 7pm yesterday. It started in spurts, but now steady and progressively getting heavier.

The dog daycare and boarding kennel I work at is having to turn down locals to accommodate out of towners. Yesterday was a mad house literally dealing with new dogs we've never met. Random shuffles here and there throughout the shift.

It's my lucky evening to stay the night thete. As the GM there, I'll monitor safety overnight through the weather and snow storms. This blows, but that's the cost to be the boss sometimes. At least our "suite" kennels have cable Hilarious!

Again, be safe everyone and anyone facing any uncertain weather this weekend.
Gimme it and I'll grow it!

Greg - what a fun job your daughter snagged!

Just think: having the governor in your eye.

Poor locals at the kennel, but I am glad the other dogs have a safe place.

She is a "pro" at. He was not her first sitting Governor. She met PA Governor Rendell when he came to her College campus. She had just joined the campus paper; the gov made an unexpected visit to make a big announcement. She was the only student available. She asked the first question after his news conference/announcement. The funny part?

She went to school that day in her pajamas(all the kids did this back then; parents cringed when we heard after the fact)😊😊😊

Rain, rain, rain. Please pray for all the iris drowned by Matthew. While this is a bit of a joke, it is true that a whole lot of plants will be washed away and trees felled before Matthew finally goes away. The crops are ruined in many areas of the SE.

Update here: it's warm and muggy. On and off rain, but basically a normal wet day. I just got home as the threat here is next to none. Lots of dogs though boarding tonight as I'll welcome them in the morning.

Irises can be replaced usually, take care to keep your selves and families safe. Looks like the predicted track for the storm may turn out to the ocean and come back again for another round. Sad

And keep an eye out for the formation of inland tornadoes. Take care in flooded areas too. Don't let your guard down yet. I wish the rain could be parceled out where it is needed and not be a heartache where it is not.

Rain and rain. I think the weather stations seriously underestimated the amount of rain we would get. Since Matthew has really weakened while beating up poor SC the threat of tornadoes and such are pretty much limited to right at the coast. The wind warnings are less too. Things may change, but flooding is the biggest danger here.

Thank heavens I have a new roof, unless tree limbs fall! My basement is surely flooded, and the creek is at a steady flood stage. No small lake yet in the backyard. I will need to go out soon and make sure the water hasn't gotten too high in the containers my JI pots are in. Don't want to drown the rhizomes.

Only about 12 more hours of rain! Sighing!
