When I have dried bulbs that do not need stratification, I store them in an empty coffee can with shredded paper until I'm ready to get them going again in spring.
I have had little occassion to store any bulbs --- in fact only 2 times in my life & I happened to have some sawdust handy at the time so I used that. But now I live more northerly than before & the situation may present itself again. This is a great tip to know because newspaper is always readily available. Thanks Ginger!

Thanks...glad you liked the tip It's a maybe situation here whether the caladiums will come back so I put them in coffee cans with shredded paper...ie: all those "you are pre approved" to go further in debt notices. They get shredded anyway, so might as well be put to good use.
Each cloud has a silver lineing if only you look for it.
Had a bit of a surprise this spring. When I went to start bulbs someone had nested in the coffee can...nice little nest and half eaten "goodies" guess I'll make a lid of old screen to cover this year
