September and October are work months for myself, reworking beds, lining out selected seedling and sale plants, moving new seedlings from the field to the newly reworked beds (boxes), planting newly arrived daylilies, and planting a small fall garden.
Every now and then I see something when lining out the two year old seedling that's unexpected. Last year when I pulled this seedling from the field as a one year old it was a clump of 7-8 fans and I planted it as it was, I never divide seedlings the first year. When I divided it a few days ago it had increased to 40+ fans. I divided it into six small clumps, the fastest increase I have seen in a daylily.

Fred I agree with Cindy. Beautiful flower with amazing increase. All we need now is good plant habit and a decent bud count. Sound like a winner to me.

This was the first seedling I flagged in 2015, if it does well this coming summer and has the stats I will register it, if not I will destroy it. I do hope the increase was a fluke and slows down, you can have to much of a good thing.

Fred - The blooms remind me of Cosmic Kaleidoscope. I hope you register it. You could always sell it for much less than the other new intros or include it as a gift plant with orders?

Nice looking flower & nice amount of increase. Although as just a regular gardener, the increase wouldn't mean that much to me, these days I prefer plants I don't have to divide too often. The flower is very interesting though, hope the bloom count is good & you register it.

I lined out the last seedling yesterday, a three year old with fourteen dbl/triple fans, which is about normal increase for me, I do not line out or sell single fans any longer. I have one more box of registered dips to line out this week then I will wait until spring to plant the new arrivals as I receive them.

Last seedling lined out in 2016.

So...um...dumb question, Fred! If you don't line out single fans, what do you do with them? Does that mean you keep them potted under lights until they're at least double fans?

When lining out some are 2 fans and some are 3 fans, there are no single fans planted for increase or sell, if a single fan happens to break from the clump it is planted with the 2 fans.

I have sold a couple double fans of the seedling above, and just lined out several double fans. It is the best dip pattern parent I have had and will register several daylilies from it in the next couple of years.

All beds have been reworked and lining out is complete.
The first three boxes are in the hybridizing area.

Looking good Fred. Thumbs up
Your deer must love that you serve the daylilies on banquet tables. Whistling I just spread the last of my milorganite last night. The milorganite went under the apple trees....they are coming right through the daylilies without touching them to eat the apples . Grumbling

I think I would do the same, they have also ate some of our citrus for the first time. There must not be many acorns this year.
