Got a text from greene at 8:35am (my time CDT) to say she and the dogs are OK. No power or internet with trees down all over the roads. Power lasted until 6:30(her time) this morning when she lost it. She wanted me to let all ya'll know that she and dogs are fine and she says HI.

got another text from greene....still no power or net. She drove around her old neighborhood. Lots of trees down and smashed homes and vehicles. Her daughter evacuated so is safe as is HER dog. I know greene is antsy not being able to get on line, but at least she and her 4legged crew are safe which is what counts. She has pictures to share when she can....meantime I'll post as I hear from her.

Just heard from greene....had a scare this morning. She and the dogs drove to the corner store for gas and coffee...got gas OK, but no water so no coffee. She drove just over the county line and found coffee and a slimjim for the "kids". Going back she came to a roadblock and the trooper wouldn't let her pass to go home OH NO....so she drove till she came to another roadblock. This time the trooper was sympathetic and allowed her and the dogs to go home This morning greene has been cutting and hauling limbs. She may not get power back until Tuesday, but no guarentee as hospitals and such come first....said its gonna be a LONG few days for her and the dogs. Karen....I will let her know you send your best

Thanks for the updates on Greene! Please tell her we're all thinking of her and her fur kids and hope her power will be back sooner than that. However, I bet Greene is more prepared than most of us to be able to get through this!
greene went in search of hay and litter today...success. Still no power or net for her, but the old neighborhood now has power so hopefully she will as well soon. The dogs have been real troopers throught it all

Still no power for greene, but her DD has so she was able to enjoy a nice hot shower and the dogs were treated to sausage biscuits from McDonalds happy campers all around

A quick hello from greene! I drove all over Savannah and finally found a WiFi signal at Brighter Day health food market with the help of a total stranger who was passing by.
Still no power or water at my house but no big damage. One tree broke but I managed to cut it up already.
My daughter's mobile home finally has water and power so yeah!!! a hot shower for me. (Finally!!!) The crews are working to restore Comcast which is where my DD gets her internet signal.
I'll be back again when I am able.
Edited to correct spelling.

Hello everyone!!! Water, power and now internet, too!!!
I had emptied my plastic zippy greenhouse so no damage; just a mess to clean.
The "Popcorn" tree got damaged, about 2/3 is gone. I cut up what I could with my little bow saw and will ask my neighbor (the tree guy) to clean up the broken trunk.
My next door neighbor was not so lucky. Two trees - one uprooted and one snapped fell on his gray house and on his red truck.
Drove to check on my daughter's mobile home. On the way I saw lots of damage. Keller's Flea Market lost a roof. Traffic lights were blowing sideways; signed listing in the wind.
Jackie's Seafood Market lost a roof.
Had to detour around roads blocked by trees and downed power lines. Near my house a tree came down just missing the truck which had to veer into the ditch.
Tree and wires down blocking Tibet Ave near Largo-Tibet Elementary school. And a bit further up the road trees and downed power lines blocked the road; it took 3 days to fix that mess.
White Bluff Road blocked by trees and wires. A "smart" driver tried to drive through the street while it was flooded - his car shorted out and caught fire!
Convenience store gas pumps were smashed when roof collapsed. Traffic lights not working because they flew off in the high wind and are smashed on the ground and road.
Road to my DDs place blocked by fallen tree. It fell on a red car. The family had evacuated so no one was hurt.
My dog Jack was confused by the mess and all the new smells. But my friend Donald (he's the one who purchased my old mobile home) reassured the dogs.
My old neighbor's suffered some damage. A tree just missed Isidro's home.
My plant friend Phyllis lost her vine-covered carport, the place we like to sit and chat when the weather is good.
But the worst was Joey's home. He had sent his wife and children away to safety and it's a good thing. A HUGE pine tree just about cut his mobile home in half. Several neighbors helped and the tree is now out of the house and the roof has been boarded and tarped.
But all in all it wasn't too bad. I had my DDs class pet, a Guinea pig, inside my house to keep my dogs amused. I even brought the rabbits inside but they were camera shy so no pics.
And a great big THANK YOU!!!! to gingin who kept in touch with me via texts through this whole mess.
:thankyou:

How did the "smart" driver get to safety without getting fried himself
OMG greene...your car sure is GREEN
Love the shots of the dogs and guinea pig...especially the last one

Your dogs are so cute. What kind are they?
Karen
Thanks! Both dogs are rescue dogs.
Jack is a Puggle - an F-1 hybrid created from a Beagle and a Pug. This is an excellent breed for any family with young children as they do not have a mean bone in their body, will always look like a puppy and have very short fur and don't shed much at all. http://www.animalplanet.com/tv...
George is a CoJack which is a Welsh Corgi/Jack Russell mix...not a good dog for homes with small children. Always barking, or making "talking" noises. He can say "hello", "no" and "boom boom" when he hears thunder or gunshots. He can jump straight up 4 feet in the air and snap at my nose. He will not be ignored and needs way too much attention...but I love him anyway. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/c/...
Both dogs were good company during the storm.
