Had for 4 yrs. The older individuals have formed tubers at their roots. This seems to be looking and acting like a Senecio/Kleinia. S./K. cephalophorus? TIA!

I became suspicious earlier this year when the foliage started developing distinct lobes.

Which became much more pronounced.


I noticed these buds on one today that are definitely not Cistanthe/Calandrinia grandiflora. These blooms are going to be in a ray shape.

Thanks for your comment. I don't think that's a match because of the bud structure and tubers that my plants' roots have formed, but I looked up the species you mentioned & it's quite attractive with similar foliage. I'd love to have that too! I sent you an acorn for jumping in there & trying to help, much appreciated.

One of the things that comes up on Google's image search function is Senecio scaposus var addoensis...could that be it?

That's an interesting possibility. If the blooms are yellow, will investigate that further. Thanks again!

The bloom is going to be orange. Touching the inflorescence left white powder/dust on my fingers.

@purpleinopp, indeed, I have the same one. Mine was orange-red when I saw its first flowers some years ago. Now it is having a more reddish tinge. One flower did show up last week. It must still be there. The bud looks orangish but the small flowers that open up one by one may be redder.

I'm not really familiar with the plant as the pic was taken in passing through the botanical garden's conservatory at Mobot (Missouri Botanical Garden) in St Louis (along with a couple hundred other photos).
It does look like it though.
