My Mom use ti have a dozen or so of the orange milkweed she started from seed along the road in front of her house and one morning they were all dug up , I am sure someone thought they were wild ....the sad thing they dug them during mid bloom and I am sure they all died.

That's just terrible! Milkweeds are difficult to move successfully...I know of one exception, Texas Milkweed, Asclepias texana, that can be dug up and moved without much problem.

Linda, I thought I had lost the Asclepias texana you gave me, but it sprouted back in the pot and now it is blooming, it is so pretty and delicate, thank you for giving me that plant. You are a very special lady. Hurray!

So glad it made it! I had a plant come back up just recently, after all this time. I think I might know what it might be, but will have to wait to be sure. I'll bet I removed the label when it didn't come up before summer. Strange how these plants can rebound so late after a bad winter!

Linda that is a beautiful one. If you have any seeds I would love some. I do have extra seeds of the Comman and the Showy milkweed. There was 300 seeds in each package. There is no way I can use that many

Sandy, I think I might still have some seeds from last year...I'll look around. This year I've had a problem with repeated Swamp Milkweed Beetles attacks on my milkweed plants, so the milkweeds haven't had a chance to produce any seeds yet.

Hi everyone! I've been lurking, with little time left in the mornings, but I wanted to read and get caught up while there's only two pages!

I love everyone's wildflowers!

Boneset, Butter and Eggs, Cardinal Flowers with Tall American Bellflowers, Tall American Bellflower, Cup Plant and Ironweed for a few :o)

The iron weed is in full bloom all over the place here too except in my yard...still waiting , I think it is because it is growing in a lot of shade.

Does it transplant well? I might put a plant or two out in the butterfly area , more sun.

I've moved a few and they did fairly good. Ironweeds like sun. They can get invasive, so best not to spoil them with good soil and watering! I had Western Ironweed in the yard and it was taking over, so now most of it is out on the property. I'm trying to pull out all the pieces of root that are still left in the yard. My Woolly Ironweed is better behaved, so it can stay.

Everyone I want to run a idea pass y'all. I have thought of starting a series of wildflower Articles,
each areas could be covered by different people. It could be done monthly, or maybe ever few months each person would take pictures of flowers around their area and write a simple article around the pictures.
We could tie it all together under one title and lead in paragraph(?)
I am working on my first one it will be called. "Stop and Smell the...Weeds, Northeastern Florida late July 2011"

If anyone is interested in joining in this project please let me know. I would be glad to help. I would love to see people from all over the country take part. I can give you my lead in paragraph to add to your article

Tee you have a lot of very beautiful wildflowers up in your area. Lot me know if I can help you get started.

I learned one thing this week. I need to get a small cooler to put my camera and lens in. Not to cool them but to keep them from getting to cool. If you take a camera out of the a/c the lens fog up. that will mess up any picture you take and it is now fun standing in the heat waiting for the lens to unfog. And it is no fun to drive around in a car with the a/c turned off.
