The branches on this scrub (looks like there's no single big trunk) are similar to cypress; there are greenish flowers attracting a lot of bees; the flat sprays with leaves seem to be oriented vertically -- please see the photo. Or is this something like Juniperus chinensis? Would appreciate any suggestion on what this could be. Thanks, h.

Both junipers(Juniperus) and arborvitae(Thuja) technically do not have flowers, or anything that looks like flowers. Perhaps your plant is a Citysus of some type? Not knowing where in the world this plant is, it's really difficult to guess.
