Thread OP

Hello all,
I am planning to create new hanging flower pots using the old bulbs. By removing the cap of the bulb and making a hole on the other side, the bulb becomes flower pots. Also, the bulb can be painted with any designs. I saw an awesome glass artwork. I have seen a post by plantmanager The thread "My Bowling ball art" in Garden Art forum, I would like to know the paints used for designing the ball. Hope that it last long.

Welcome! Anna! Are you talking about using old lightbulbs? I'd love to know more info. At first I thought you were using bulb pots that are ready made. My bowling ball isn't painted. it's made of cut mosaic tiles and glass globs.
I have painted a few outdoor things with common acrylic paint which I then sealed. They do fade over time, but last quite a while. I just never expect things painted with acrylic to be permanent.

Thankyou plantmanager. I thought it was painted. What kind of paint can I use? It should last long. Also, I am concerned about the holes too. I hope glass cutting can be used for drilling the holes.

I don't think there is any way to cut a hole in a light bulb. They are just too thin. I've drilled a lot of things, but don't think it would work with light bulbs. Maybe someone else will have an idea.
You could fashion a simple macrame holder to hold the light bulb.

As far as paints go, other than acrylic, I have no idea. We do have some fine artists here, so maybe they will be able to suggest something else.
