Rosarians- My old rose gloves, found on a sale rack several years ago, are finally wearing out (mainly from the blackberries).
Rose gloves are expensive, and I want to choose some good ones. I see there are now "synthetic leather" ones that are heavily advertised. Should I believe the hype? I thought goatskin might be best. Any advice?

I can sympathize as I have 2 pretty old pr of leather gauntlets that I got at a nursery sale. I can't say enough about how valuable gauntlets are in handling a lot of roses. I personally would keep looking for real leather gauntlets. Maybe feed stores would sell them and have you checked online?

Take a look on Amazon under Bionic Rose Gardening gloves. Those are the best gauntlets in my opinion. They are leather, and very comfortable. Make sure you use their measurements to order.
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.

Several years ago a friend gave me a pair of John Deere ladies leather gloves. They worked great both for handling roses and pulling wild blackberry brambles. But they eventually did wear out and I have not been able to find them again. Other leather is okay, but not quite the same.

I have not bought any yet, still thinking about the Bionics. It seems odd to buy mail order, glove fit is so personal.
I would kinda like John Deere, always had a soft spot for their tractors. The gloves must be deere hide, tee hee.
