Collected lots of seeds yesterday just as the wind and cold front swooped in:
Joe Pyes, Phlox 'Jeana' , Hardy Ageratum, Fall blooming asters, Goldenrods, and agastaches. The fleece jacket I was wearing is so covered with fluffy seed that I may cut it up and offer 'seed tapes' for the seed swap instead of packets..

Jill, I think your aster seeds are 'Purple Dome' (not blue dome) Other similar asters are Raydon's Favorite' and 'October Skies'.

Anyone interested in seeds of Chelone 'Hot Lips'? LMK.

LOL @ fleece "seed tapes"

You're right, I think they are 'Purple Dome'. I've probably got a tag out there somewhere... :-)

I don't know if 'Hot Lips' comes true from seed or not, but regular white turtlehead is a super plant, too. I'll have to see if there's anything else out there to get.. I had my eye on some nearly ripe cardinal flower seeds just before Thanksgiving... There might be some lotus seeds, too, although Joyanna was shaking them out of their pods and sticking them down into the mud...

I tried to collect 'Hot Lips' seeds once, but had a hard time finding any. I decided they might be sterile, or close to it.

That's true of a lot of hybrids. I've noticed my newer hardy hibiscus don't seem to set seed. Too bad, because I'd love to try passing along that indeterminate trait of blooming all along the stem rather than just at the ends!
