This year I didn't plant any MG's and just let the volunteers from last year do their thing. The astonishing thing is that only two MG's out of 26 showed up - Milky Way and Purple Hige. The interesting thing too is that MG's are thought to be invasive thugs but all my volunteers didn't stray too far from the boundaries of the beds I made for them. There was an arch but Hurricane Matthew knocked it over. The area was essentially ignored and left to it's own devices.

In the first picture you can see the area. Second picture is of Milky Way and the single form of the Purple Hige. Last picture is of the Hige.

Thanks .. the whole kit and kaboodle was still blooming like crazy until a hard freeze took it out on Saturday.

About 5 years I grew a mixed selection of errant mystery mg seeds out of their packets and ended up with a stunning hige that I think was one of Emmas called the impossible name of Aomurasakihigesibori. I collected lots of seeds and have grown them out 4 times but never got a hige again. I think I'll try again next spring .. it might be interesting to grow a lot of different hige's and do some cross pollinating!

I've always been a sucker for anything double, tripled or exploded.
