I sent my soil to the extension service to have it tested. It came back that I needed to add 34-0-0. I found some fertilizer at the garden center that said it was 33. Is that basically the same thing or something entirely different? This is mid Oct. Is it too late to add fertilizer or should I wait until spring?

If the 33 is nitrogen it should be fine. Up here in the north I would wait till Spring since our growing season is just about over. I would not want to push the plants to grow right before Winter.Just in case you do not know the 34 is nitrogen the middle 0 is potassium the last 0 phosphorus.

Are you talking about your vegetable garden or your perennial/annual whole yard garden?

After I pull my veggy plants in the fall, I dump all sorts of things on my garden. It seeps all winter and is ready to be dug in next spring.

If its your regular garden, spring is best.
