From your photo, I guess that your bulb order has arrived. That's early. They look good.

Received them on Monday the 17. The others are sleeping in the basement waiting for spring.

Mine have not made it to the basement yet - nights are getting cooler and the leaves are starting to turn yellow, so will be moving them into the basement soon.

Anyone have any experience with dutchgardens.com? I ordered a new bulb that just came out this year - Sweet Potato Pie amaryllis. They just sent me a Sumatra instead. I e-mailed and called them, and now I am finding out that they probably ran out of the Sweet Potato and substituted the Sumatra. It was not marked as a substitute, and I don't really care for Sumatra either. She said if it is indeed a substitute, it will be another YEAR until I get the Sweet Potato Pie. I ordered August 22, and they just only took this item off their website in the last week or so, so there should have been a bulb reserved for me. Also, I paid the full price, not the sale price they just offered a couple of weeks ago. Has anyone ordered anything from them in the past? Is this type of service normal for them? Confused I'll be pretty sad if I don't get my bulb - went out and bought a great new ceramic pot for it and everything - was really looking forward to getting it. Sighing!

I think I did, but it was over 10 years ago. They sent me a different lily than the one I ordered. I informed them I already had the lily they sent so they ended up sending me 10 of (instead of one) the substitute I wanted (Black Beauty). I was certainly happy with the deal.

New Amaryllis for me this year are Lemon Sorbet, Rosalie and Razzle Dazzle.

I have planted bulbs of Clown and Elvas which were showing growth. I have bulbs of Aphrodite, Fantasy, Christmas Gift, Vera, Pink Surprise, and Barbados yet to plant. Tomorrow I am going to drive into the Salt Lake City area and visit some of the good nurseries hoping to find something [somethings Whistling ] special to buy.

Well today, I got a Sumatra from Dutch Gardens, which was their substitution for Sweet Potato Pie. So apparently they never had Sweet Potato Pie in the first place. Well I won't order from them again.
I just got an email from Royal Colors. They couldn't ship the Sofia that I had ordered, but they offered me either a refund or a substitution of my choice. That's the way business is supposed to be done.

Well that bodes badly for me too then. The label on the box said Sweet Potato Pie, but the bulb itself was labeled Sumatra. I have complained and they said they would send me the correct item, but I had to first tell them the number that was handwritten on the packing slip (who packed the item). I hope that is a good sign, but i do have reservations. The Sumatra bulb is huge and healthy, but that is not what I ordered. We shall see. Sighing!

Putting up another 3! Double Dream, which I had been looking at for awhile. Local nursery had them, really nice size.

Double Dream will make a nice display, Esp. 3 in one pot. I've started Ruby Gem and Olaf, both reds, which I got from Amaryllis Bulb Company. The Ruby Gem is from Hadeco (South Africa), so I expect it to bloom quickly. Plus the Sumatra from Dutch Gardens. Its a cybister which can be very slow to break dormancy. I'm waiting on nine others from Royal Colors.

The pics of Ruby Gem and Olaf, look spectacular! Ruby Gem looks like a very dark red. Never tried any of the canister group, they really look interesting.

I bought a bunch of different Amaryllis bulbs at several local nurseries. Perhaps I will order some from other sources...I really don't have room for any more Whistling I am planting as I see signs of growth and have recently planted Aphrodite, White Peacock, Pink Impression. La Paz, and Pink Surprise. 14 more to go.........I need to get a few more clay pots.

Well, @bsharf - Dutch Gardens had asked me to give them the handwritten number on my order -who packed it - which I did, and they said they would take care of the problem. But so far, I have not received my Sweet Potato Pie. I e-mailed them again, about a week ago, and so far no response. I think I might call them this week and ask if they ever had this bulb in the first place - so far they have not been very direct with me. Thumbs down

I would stay away from dutchgardens.com. Barbara and I are both having trouble with them. Easytogrowbulbs.com and bulbsdirect.com are my favorite places to buy from so far. Have ordered a lot from both places with never a problem. And I like their selection.

@crawgarden - see my photo of Ruby Gem above. It was actually a little deeper red than the photo shows, but not too deep. It was very showy - can't wait for it to bloom again.
