And here we are again. I was late this year getting it loaded because we have been having a really hot Indian Summer - Temps in the mid to upper 80's. It's finally finished though and as usual it occurs to me I need a bigger greenhouse. Now the cleanup.

First picture is of my potting bench - the aftermath and it's been cleaned up twice before this picture. Second picture is the greenhouse. Third picture is of the garage filled with plants that no longer fit in the greenhouse and the overflow when I ran out of room in the main greenhouse.

I need a bigger greenhouse!

Good Job! I know that was a labor of love. You are ahead of the game! We will get cooler temps soon, I hope. It is a little unusual to have high 80's in November even for Houston. It's been too hot to get in and clean the greenhouse of the messes the raccoons left. But I don't want to get caught with a low forecast and only one day to get the plants to safety either. I will be doing some work in there starting tomorrow, I think.

Panic greenhouse loading is no fun! That's why I normally start the first of October ... it doesn't look like we're going to get much cooler in the day time any time soon but at least the night time temps will be getting into the 40's .. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that stuff won't start growing.

This time of year is wistful for me when I have to move the plants into the greenhouse.

I took advantage of a few overcast cooler mornings in late summer to get the shelving in order and the greenhouse cleaned out.

I've moved plants in over a few October weekends but it is still too blessed hot. I have shade cloth up and have to water diligently. Not that I wish for cold weather but this is getting silly.

Our first killing frost is around Thanksgiving and that is normally too busy a time of year to move plants in in a panic. Nice to have it behind me. Green Grin!

I always think my greenhouse is stuffed with plants till I take photos. Then it looks like I have room for more plants and want to go shopping.

I've had enough Winter and am ready for Spring. We usually have our first killing frost a bit earlier than you but this year it looks like it's going to be much later than normal.

I always have to leave a little room for cuttings and seedlings.

AGREED! I find I am already sitting in the greenhouse, admiring the plants and wishing for springtime.

And agreed.... it seems there are always pieces that break off that need potting up. I have trouble throwing them away.

Also get tempted with an additional plant that I just can't live without.

Ann, you need a bigger greenhouse..............just sayin'............... Rolling on the floor laughing

I have a ginormous greenhouse.................*I* need less plants...................LOLOL I am considering trying to sell some of my big ones next spring. Cripes, if I pace myself it takes me 3 days to move everything in and it requires the tractor and end loader to do it. But, I prune everything back when I get it up there and BEFORE I take it in. That takes time too. The 3 big brugs.....before and after the "slaughter". And some of the other plants waiting their turn. Ok, I should clarify...........not all of those in the last pic were cut back..............not the big ivy, or the ivy in the hanging baskets, or the foxtail fern, or the bird of paradise. (that one needs to be divided........I will need a stick of dynamite to accomplish that. Or a chainsaw.)

Anna, the garage plants are getting huge and I haven't had the nerve to cut them back. The weather has been so warm, mid to upper 70's that things are still growing .. my worst nightmare come true! I need to pare down a bit myself .. way too many plants.

Kristi I'm like you .. just can't say no!

We happened to be near Anna's last fall and witnessed the aftermath of her "slaughter." Helpless little brug limbs lying haphazardly all over the ground. I had to restrain myself. I took quite a few things up to her and she reciprocated by loading up DH's new truck. I was so excited with my trades that I didn't check the truck bed. We had to be in Iowa to meet relatives. And then we were on our way home to Texas.

As we left Iowa, the phone rang in the truck and I heard Anna's voice asking me if I knew I left a box of brug cuttings in the grass. What?? I put on my sad face Sad , and DH doubled back to Wisconsin to pick up those " #*€¥ " brugs. We had to spend an extra night in Illinois. (It was worth it).
Those brugs cuttings that made it over winter turned out to be the healthiest, bloomingest brugs I have. If she decides to sell some, take her up on it!

Your trades have done well for me too, Sandi. I did lose 1brug cutting, but the others have done well. I have repotted a couple again and need to do at least one more.

Good to hear, Anna! We woke to the low 40s this morning. I think it's time to put up the hoop house! I took back up cuttings of brugs, but I'm way behind on getting other plants ready for winter.
