Thread OP

I have lived in my house for 5 years. I have built a decorative retaining wall and planted it in my front yard. I am very happy with it. In my backyard I have day lilies around my deck and a pretty angel bird bath with irises and Asiatic lilies in a corner. It's when I get the the center of the back fence line things get difficult. I have the storm drain and the underground utility access in my backyard. I had put cedar ending down in a semi circle shape about 24 feet around. I had been planting dahlias and gladiolus in there but the weeds and ornamental grasses from who knows where take over and I cannot keep up. Behind the utilities I have raspberry and asparagus planted. The asparagus is coming up nicely and make a nice green wall to hide the weird fence angles that go around the storm drain. The brambles are coming in and I gave them a bench they can grow into. But now that I cleaned up and cleaned out all the weeds and grass, it looks a little sad. I have no idea what plants to put, if any. If not plants what can I put to add life, color, whimsy to the area so it looks a bit prettier. Thank you in advance for any ideas and, or ,advice! Confused

I would prefer going for a small rocky structure with a waterfall. You could easily get it done by a professional.
