@dave - I tried to answer this for myself by looking at the pictures from 2014 and 2015. Didn't work. Maybe you've started a new category or maybe I didn't go back far enough in history. What might fall under the last (but of course not least) category - - Miscellaneous/Other ???
I don't have a camera other than the one on my phone so I'm just being nosy curious, not trying to go for a win.
BTW - there were a lot of beautiful photographs in 2014 and 2015. Wow!

It is a new category and it's for photos that don't fit into any of the other categories. Some people might like to take pictures of mushrooms or other fungi, for example, but these are not plants, so they don't fit into any other category. It's also a good category for something that doesn't fit into the "Wildlife and plants" category because there are no plants in the photo. If you have a photo of a fox running down the street, for instance, or a lizard on a rock, with no plants in sight, you could submit that photo in the Miscellaneous category.

@zuzu - you made me grin with a couple of your examples. Like 'a fox running down the street' - recently in one of my neighborhood groups someone posted a picture of a coyote trotting down a city sidewalk. Not jaywalking. Not trespassing on anyone's yard. Just staying on the sidewalk like a good citizen would.
The 'lizard on a rock' made me have a flashback to the days when I lived on an island. One morning after a very late night, I got up to make coffee. And right as I was about to switch on the light I saw an ex-lizard, back end and tail hanging there. Apparently on its way to find a place to rest he stuck his head in the wrong place and got fried. That is an image that I doubt if I'll ever forget.

Thanks for your reply.
