I went to Home Depot and bought a few cactus for a sunny window. They looked like they had just came in and I was pleased that they had an ID on each. Common ones but OK for me. Hope the names are correct.

Hey - nice haul! All the cacti and succulents at our Home Depot say 'misc. houseplant' or some such thing on it. Sad
But I got lucky at Lowe's today - check out my thread on Euphorbias.

Rebutia albipilosa is unusual - at least for me. I like it! Nothing ever looks healthy at our Lowe's. I think they have a policy to try to kill them before they bring them into the store! Hilarious!

Chris, it used to be that way here too, all I can say is they must have a different outdoor manager because things looked a lot better this time around. Plus, I received exceptional customer service on two occasions!

Hurray! Glad to hear they're improving! It's such a shame to see all those poor plants in such sad condition.

You know, I was surprised when I went to Home Depot and bought those Succulents a couple of weeks ago. They actually had them all labelled. Could it be they are finally listening to the customer?

BTW, if everyone thanked them, maybe, just maybe they would make more of an effort to label the houseplants too =) Send them a thank you for labelling :)

It seems to go with the individual stores . The Lowes by me has a very good garden center , the Home Depot is sad. Yet another 1/2 hour away the Home Depot is much better then the Lowes.

I agree. I think the garden shop manager has a lot to do with how well the garden shop is run. We have one store here in Chandler that is impeccable. The manager is all about colors, how they are displayed, brings in plants most HD's in the valley don't carry, and has a incredible selection of pots. It's about 3 miles farther out than the one closest to me, but I choose to go there, because I like the way she takes care of her store.

Here are two shots of cactus and one succulent in one of my sunny windows. I use the blinds to temper the sun.

They look pretty happy in their nice home Paul. Did you drill the holes in the sides of the terra cotta pots? If so, do you use a special bit?

I bought the round pots at Home Depot and the six-sided pots at a local nursery. Both kinds already had the side holes. I love the look of cactus in terra cotta.
