Windy here but now it's calm. Weather guy said we had dry heat build up in the valley which could prevent the rain from coming. Duh!

I'm hoping we don't hit new August highs NEXT YEAR. Going through a little depression with this.

If we were getting more monsoon weather I'd shut up about it... but it's so darn hot that the clouds roll in and then dissipate over the city... Grumbling Grumbling

Yep, they rolll right to the border of town and dissipate without dropping even a hint of rain. So very discouraging. I think us being cooped up indoors because of all this heat, is causing some depression. I'm feeling it too!!

Oh, and have been trying to cope by buying some plants I can putz around with inside. I just purchased a begonia called 'Seattle Twist'. Beautiful foliage. Can be grown as a houseplant...I'm going to try it in a hanging basket by the front living room window. Do you know how hard it is to find Macrame pot hangers these days...I haven't tried walmart yet, will try that this weekend. Our Home Depot use to carry them. Zero, Zilch, Nada!!

OMG that's a gorgeous Begonia. I love the leaves. Similar to one I had in the mid-70's coincidentally.

AND, being a woman of a certain age... I have made hundreds of macrame hangers and hangings. So easy Alan. You should give it a try!

I found one on ebay for $3, I'm good...lol!

On the other hand...I've been considering taking up leather crafting. I have a friend that makes these really nice lanyards for badges, employee id. They are wonderful. She gave me one, and now everyone at work is wanting one. So I'm buying the whole team lanyards. But I'm not going to tell them I paid her for them. I'm just going to say she made them for me. sshhhhhh!!! They are made out of deer hide. They are a really, really, soft suede type deer hide. Nice and long too...they way I like them, so you don't have to been way over to swipe your id to get into the revolving doors!

I am so grumpy over the heat just as you all are and we keep going around circles about it. It makes me want to be made at the TV weather folks...as though it's their fault.

I am praying (literally!!) that I can somehow leave AZ for 8 weeks next year! Maybe work in Alaska like I had wanted to. My son lives in Oklahoma but it's horrible there too.

Maybe we can all rent a beach house in Oregon together.

I bought three, oh heck, I can never remember what these are called, they are from the African Violet family...hold on, let me look them up:

Insert commercial here:

I bought three Episcia too. Beautiful foliage plants. I bought Alice's Aussie, Raspberry Blush, and Pink Brocade.

Leather crafting. I know what you mean about the soft deer skin texture. It's amazing. My friend in Cave Creek does that. She's made some beautiful feathered, beaded, laced medicine bags from deer skin... and other skins. She killed a rattlesnake on her property and turned it into a bag. I have an owl feather wrapped in deer skin to wear in my hair. Give it a try Alan. I think the badge lanyards would be beautiful!... and I know what you mean about the swipe dilemma.

I grew the great foliage begonias in Los Altos CA... That was decades ago. They were so beautiful mixed in with lush azalea in a beautiful raised granite planter. Where has the time gone?

There was a nice breeze this morning but I here we will not be below 110 through LAbor Day. That is just not right. I am going to MA next week for a long weekend. The lows will be in the 50's and highs in the 70's Big Grin

Becky... roll them as you go along. It could be difficult to turn them into dollar bills. Az State Credit Union wanted to charge me 4% to deposit them into my check acct. "handling fee". I know people who are taking them to casino's to turn into dollars so they don't get charged. Some banks I hear don't charge...
