There is nothing more wonderful for the imagination than a great big black hole. Absolutely nothing.

It doesn't matter what's really in the hole, it's the unknown that jostles the child's curiosity and excitement within us, a little like the night before Christmas when we heard the sound of reindeer paws on the rooftop and the jingle of bells dashing through the air.

How fun that you looked into that big black hole and took us right along with you.

Great pictures too. But methinks you might need to grow longer arms to get very far into the deeper holes.

Fun to read! Thanks.

Armor has holes in it, doesn't it?

I was just thinking that hole is big enough for one or both of us to curl up inside with a book on a rainy day.
Ya think?

Maybe a little battery powered lamp?
A light blanket.
All the comforts of home.

True on both counts.

It does look mighty cozy in there. And I expected it to be damp but it appears quite dry.

Curling up in the hidey hole in the tree. Isn't that what little girls always dream of? Like an Alice or a Goldilocks or some such.

I kind of still do curl up in a cave. This old house, the bedrooms have very sloped ceilings. I pushed my bed up tight to the wall under the ceiling slope...have to slide in under there almost sideways! but sure is cozy and feels so safe at night. Just don't sit up to quick...you'll bump your head.

Oh, Lee Anne, I like those kinds. I know just what you're talking about. Reminds me of the few times the family made the long car drive to my grandparents (dad's parents) in Wisconsin. The house was like that.

WHAT a COOOOL idea! There's no electric there yet but just wait until next year! Oh Stephanie, that is the very best idea! Halloween is our favorite holiday as well as our anniversary. Apropos. Hilarious! And I thought about hanging gauze ghosts from those huge, moss draped oaks so they could blow in the breeze. Now I can't wait till next Halloween! The Haints will be in hog heaven.
Smoke machine..... so cool!
