Thanks Tracey, I have never seen this one under $200. I hope it will be safely in the ground by next weekend.

Craig, was that EBay seller jackshouse? It doesn't refer to Brooks peonies that I could see. Did you get that many eyes on your division?
I hope mine is large. I will post a photo here when I get it.

I got burned with peonies on eBay years ago and don't buy them there anymore. That is one of the most irritating things to me. To have someone say that they are selling a plant, you pay your hard earned money for it, wait for however long it takes to bloom, and it isn't what you paid for. Argh 😤!

LG, yes it was jackshouse and it is Brooks Gardens. It was a nice size root with about five eyes.
I understand that you don't want to take chances on eBay because you never know what you're going to get. I'm taking the chance because I know it's Brooks and Therese knows me as a regular customer Smiling

I'm so weak. Just ordered Adrienne, Villosa and Chief Black Hawk. All 3 combined were less expensive than Chief Black Hawk alone earlier in the season, now just have to dig even more holes in the snow covered ground....

I'm glad they were still offering it! I am thinking about digging Chief's hole today so that when he gets here I can pop it right in. I don't have to worry about freezing temperatures though. It's going to be 70°F Tuesday. We are supposed to get some rain finally Monday. I am going to bag up the dirt I take out of the hole and then place the bag in the hole. Does that sound like the right plan?

I looked at those other two also but didn't want to dig more holes! Rolling on the floor laughing

I sure hope you are home this Spring Liz to take photos of all your peonies!

With all you put into your gardens Liz, I can hardly imagine ever wanting to leave during peony season, if I were in your shoes. I mean isn't that time of year what we all look forward to seeing? Smiling

I know what you guys mean--circumstances beyond my control last spring! I'm not planning to leave home anytime between the end of the first week in June and mid July this coming spring.
LG, that's how I plan to do it, will probably use a wheelbarrow for as much soil as I can move then buckets or whatever will hold....Mine will have to go into the garage because we're supposed to have below freezing temps Monday and Tuesday. Can't wait for winter to be over already and it hasn't even really started!

So sorry to see that. Not my kind of weather. I still have over 200 tulip bulbs to plant. Don't know what came over me and caused me to order them. A moment of temporary weakness, I guess.

I got my tulip bulbs planted last weekend, thankfully! Still have 2 small boxes that I haven't opened that came in after family arrived, will have to deal with those really soon....

So the snow stopped and the sun came out, got one of the small boxes planted (hellebore), the other will have to wait (45 allium bulbs! What was I thinking? But they should've been here last month). Got 8 holes dug much more easily than I thought I would but too much snow and ice on the rest of the yard and paths to get the soil I removed into the garage. I covered the wagon it's in with black plastic and put pavers on top, hopefully it'll thaw fast in the sun on planting day....If I dug the holes before allowing myself to do these late orders I'd probably have a lot less peonies....
I wonder how those allium bulbs would do in a pot in the garage. I purchased them to mix into a bed of white iris but didn't get the bed divided--no room there. I guess I could put them at the edge of the newest peony beds and transplant next fall. I think the bulb auger (best investment ever, works as a drill bit) will make short work of getting them in, just really didn't want anything else in those beds but will have to move them regardless...

I sure hope so, Karen! Missed a lot of first blooms last spring, some on 3 year old plants! Hope to have repeat blooms this spring. We'll see how many of the new ones bloom, I really think the fertilizing helps enormously in that department so thank you very much for sharing BulbTone!

Sounds like you have a way to go, Liz and Karen. I know you will get it done.

I got my bulb order from John Scheepers planted today. Whew! I love the daffodils, but it is tedious planting them.

I still have a bunch of other things that I need to get into the ground. Hopefully we will have another mild winter.

What do you use to plant your bulbs, LG? I found a bulb auger that fits into a cordless drill, makes planting bulbs really quick. You just have to be really careful around drip lines and such and yes, I do know that from experience! It digs FAST!

I just use my transplanting shovel. I tried one of those augers years ago and it didn't work for me. What brand is the one that works for you?
