For me it always begins with October. The expectation of things to come; of November to come. October means it's a little cooler & there is no going back to 90 plus degree days AND it's 31 days until November. November signifies excitement --- yes, I know that tingling feeling too.

Of necessity she made lard soaps for all purposes, bathing, laundry, etc.

Sometimes we made smaller cakes using herbs and honey.
Sometimes we added oatmeal and lavender, sometimes mint.

She didn't waste time doing frou-frou stuff, mostly things were done for a purpose, a reason.
