Interesting, since I have some colored glass I was hoping to put among the 'dry riverbed' stones to give a semblance of water. I will try it on a small patch first.

Hetty, your gardens are beautiful! The photos don't do them justice. You've put so much thought and hard work into this project! I wanted to look at all the additions when I was at your place, but did not feel comfortable lingering when you were not there.
My weed cloth is rotting. I have to replace it, but will double or triple it next time. Not looking forward to this project with all the plants in place.

Hetty, I know this is an old thread but somebody referenced it in the 'Ask a Question' forum regarding the use of rock mulch.

I'm curious how it's doing after a couple of years, could you post a picture or two, please? Any comments?

Do you find the rock mulch easy to maintain? I've always had an aversion to rock mulch, since we have had 3 houses where it was over-used but am open to trying anything.

I am still very happy with my choice of cover material. It is very easy to maintain, doesn't wash away (important since I made some gentle slopes) and keeps the area not totally weed free, but because of the stone the weeds are easy to spot and to remove. I will take a few updated pictures and post them here when I get a chance.

Uh oh, I hope I didn't cause Hetty a whole lot of work to buff and fluff the bed in question!

OK I took a few quick shots just now. Here is the Succulent bed today. It requires very little care.

Hetty,
I agree the yard came a long way. Lots of work on your end. The planning looks excellent.
That big Euphorbia lactea, is that the 'White Ghost' you gave me a stem of? Hard to get a good look at it. Also those other big Euphorbias??
Nice looking at a lovly yard while ours still got some snow and ice around.

Yes Stush, that is the White Ghost; the light was not optimal on that picture, I realize.
The other 'big Euphorbias' are E. punicea and E. tirucalli - and the other big plants I believe are Pachypodiums and a big Aloe.

Thank You! for the compliments!
