I have tired adding a plant to the data base, but can't get past step 2. What am I doing wrong?

What plant are you trying to add?

Chrysanthemum Kathleen Dark Red. A plant I have in my garden, but can't find in the Data base.

It is properly Crysanthemum x morifolium. And I believe the Trade name would be Kathleen. Is that the way you are entering it?

(Genus species): Chrysanthemum

Trade Name: * Kathleen
Series: * Yoder

I am not sure if this is correct. I had to go and look it up online. No I did not know what to put down for Genus Species: morifolium. I noticed that Daves Garden had it listed as Asteraceae. I did a general search for Kathleen Dark Red, but did not come up with a hit that way.

Here's an entry for you. The series name is Kathleen™. The trade name is Dark Red.

I wish I had a photo of this. I will have to wait til next fall. Today I am spending my day entering all of my plants.

See now, it can get a bit confusing. In the Adding a plant section, there's a note that says that the Trade name will almost always have the "TM" symbol. So when in doubt, ask Zuzu!

In most cases, when a trade name stands alone, it's followed by a trademark symbol. When the plant is part of a trade series, the symbol follows the series name.
