What is difference in the Star and the Green thumb like signs. Does one mean more than the other. There are a lot of beautiful flower pictures..Love them all. Want to be sure to do the right thing.

Charleen, the thumbs up is like a pat on the back for the photographer "nice shot!" or "beautiful rose". Or a pat on the back for the gardener who grew it, etc.

The star is more like a bookmark for you personally. You can click a star for something you might want to find later like how to propagate from cuttings, how much to fertilize roses. It could be anything on the site you might want to reference later. Then from your profile, you can click on "starred items" and find that information.

If you **star** my post above, you won't have to try to remember. That's what it's for, it replaces our "I can't remembers"!

But, if you are like me ... I starred a few posts and then forgot that I had starred them! Rolling on the floor laughing I need to remember to go to my profile page more often.

Hmmm...I've been "thumbs-upping" well-written/informative articles, good Tips of the Day, and various posts that offer great info. If it is something I want to one day refer back to I'll "Star" it also. Seems like that is how it was meant to be in the beginning, wasn't it? In other words the Thumbs Up isn't just for photos, right?

I think you're right, Shoe. I guess I had photos on the brain because that's what was being discussed in another thread . (number of stars for a photo determining which shows up on the genus search). I use thumbs up for other things too, like you do. Stars, too, for things I want to check again and find easily.

No worries, Charleen. Why...I remember the time I had a Bumble mule, or maybe it was a honeybee mule; its job was to carry the honeypots from our days work. Perhaps more on that later. All in all, bumble mules have respect around here and so do you!

See ya!~

Dave,
Is there a way to rename the pages we Star for future reference, like we did with tags? I have three from the daily "Tips" and they all show up as "Tip of the Day..."

Thanks! Rolling my eyes.

I'm afraid not, but I did update it to show the date and author in the list. Smiling
