Me neither. My 6 or 8 plants produce all the tomatoes we can eat and still give away tons.

I moved my tomatoes outside last week and they have really taken off. I'll be keeping around 30 or so and will try to sell the rest.

Looking great, Mary K! They seem to be enjoying the nice weather we've had the last several days. I've not been brave enough to put mine outside yet (maybe once we get past the cool overnights toward the end of the week)

Thanks, Linda. Yes, they're loving the outdoors. There are a few that appear to have some wind burn but for the most part they look great. I'll be covering them starting tonight for a few nights to make sure no frost gets to them. Sure don't want to lose them now.

What exactly are we seeing there, Allison? Is that a cup within a cow pot? Is that just for some extra support for the plants?

Hoping to finally get my tomato plants into earthboxes this weekend. They are overa foot tall, and wanting a permanent home. Last Saturday at our Master Gardeners plant sale, we sold a couple of hundred tomato plants in just under 6 hours ( it was our first time to include vegetable plants). So glad to see so many people interested in growing veggies!

I take newspaper ... and make a collar with it... and just fill it with mix... more or less.. a space saver instead of using a bigger pot

My first wintersown tomatoes were blown away in the wind. I re-sowed them after that, kind of late. They have sprouted but are still only a few inches tall. My husband started to plant them a few days ago while I was planting flowers but we were, again, chased in by rain. Hopefully I'll get them in the ground this weekend. May 15 is always my target date for planting them so I'm late this year.

Our weather has been mostly cool, cloudy, and rainy. The heat and sunshine (sudden summer!) are to start today so I have to get the toms in the ground. Previous attempts at wintersowing tomatoes were tiny at planting time but with great roots and they took off fast when hot weather arrived. Hoping for the same result this year.

It's funny. The wintersown ones stay small for a while. They currently range from only about 2" tall to about 8" . But when I go to transplant, they have the biggest, longest healthiest looking root system. So while they don't put on much obvious early above-ground growth, they're growing below ground, the important early part of development.

yes it is... keep us posted on your progress... I started some in the unheated greenhouse... some have not germinated yet... and others are 3 or 4 inches tall... guess when I get them all planted I will mark which were started inside or out

I start my toms in 16 oz. cups, only about half full of potting mix. As they grow, I add more soil to the top of the cup to bury the stems as they grow.
