Hello
I'm sorry for missing so much.
I was visiting my parents in Romania. Few months.
And after I come back, I moved a little to the East, in Victoria.
I spent two good years in Corpus Christi and I miss the city.
But so it is for beginning. Was the same feeling when I left from Lubbock.
This year I lost the occasion to take photo of spring flowers.
In Romania was a long and harsh winter. When I left the spring flowers just beginning and here the spring was almost past. And with my move and don't know the new place ... But I hope to recover next year.
The first tulips blooming in the garden of my parents. (in Romania). It's a variety that blooms early. Unfortunately I left before I see the others.
It was bright red, perfect.
This tulip has a history.
Many years ago, I got some tulip bulbs from an old man neighbor.
I always thought this old man was a passionate gardener.
He cultivates a few fruit trees. Vegetables. But almost all of his garden was full of these tulips. In perfect rows. In every spring tulips bringed this red color in his garden.
Vegetables are grown between rows of tulips. Very nice and rich crops.
The old man knew many things about gardening.
When he could no longer handle his garden, being too old, he moved to his son.
Several years we met again in town. He was very old.
We spoke about his garden. About his tulips. I asked about the garden's missing, considering that it was a passionate gardener.
He smiled at me and said slowly:
- Passionate gardener !?
Then ... after a pause he continued:
- Never ... Never I liked gardening. But this tulip ... I got five tulip bulbs in the early '50s. From someone ... from France. I've planted. Next spring, when I saw the flower, I love it. I could not stop ... to continue ...
..............
The above discussion took place about ten years ago. I did not meet him again.
I don't know the variety name of this tulip.
For today does not seem a big deal to get flowers, seeds or bulbs from France.
But in the 50s communist dictatorship conquered the power in the country. Came bad times ... Communication with the free countries had become practically impossible. How, and who sent him those tulip bulbs?
I don't know. Maybe a lost, dear friend ...
-
Again sorry for my absence.
Iustin
