Growing in a tight clump in the middle of nowhere were these (looked alot like) amaryllis. I had never seen them before!!! The flower stalks were very tall, about 2-3 feet and the whole clump was blooming or about to bloom.

Anyone have any ideas what these are....they are quite stunning!!!

Thanks in advance....

Carol

Wow Carol! I don't know but they're really pretty! Look like amaryllis to me. They look so appropriately Hawaiian.

I used to have an amaryllis sprekelia x. Never did bloom before it croaked but I suspect this may be it.

What I find interesting is the blue anthers. Wonder what cross would give the blue anthers?

I've looked and looked for 'blue anthers', can't find anything. You'd think that would be a quickly identifying factor.

Wow...that's interesting...epiphytic. I had no idea. This is a good way to learn about plants one might otherwise not experience if you aren't growing it.

No, I do not grow them but Aulicum is one in my hippeastrum wishlist to grow even if I have to start them from seeds. I haven't found a source yet.
