Pine Cones Discourage Pests

By patrob

Place pine cones around the plants in pots to discourage cats from digging. If necessary, add short stakes to keep the cones from being moved.

In the end, only kindness matters.

That reminds me.....

I used to cut the rose bramble stems growing next to our property and lay them on the ground in my flower beds to deter the cats. Maybe I'll cut some next year and lay them on top on my containers and flowerbeds. Big Grin Thumbs up

One year I bought a pretty flowering catmint for my container and didn't want the cats in it, so I stuck a bunch of plastic forks, pronged side up around it.

I found a photo of it. Green Grin! It's in the middle of the second row (front going back) behind the pot with the blue and purple flowers. Thumbs up

I knew I had a photo of it. Just had to find it. When I look at it, I start laughing. It's too funny! Rolling on the floor laughing
I've haven't done it since, but might do that again next year because of the darn squirrels. I really got tired of them constantly hopping into my containers to dig to bury nuts. Grumbling

This photo was in June 2006 and I had forgotten that I did it, until the tip came along and jogged my memory. Green Grin! Thumbs up
