The only thing is I wish it wasn't on a black background. If it was a white background, that would be perfect. The problem with the black is it would make the microbadge into a big black box.
I use GIMP. It's a free photo editor. I really don't know very much about photo editing but when there is something I want to do, I can look up tutorials. Here is the tutorial on how I did this. http://www.photo-info.co.nz/ar...
The only thing I did different is used the bucket fill tool to add color, between where the instrutions say ( "Ctrl + k" to clear ) and ("Ctrl + Shift + A" to unselect.)
Thanks Jay, I came across GIMP when looking for a free programme, in the end I downloaded Paint.NET which looks very good. I have difficulty drawing freehand around images, they have a link to a forum but I couldn't find anything about removing and filling backgrounds. I'll try GIMP.
Just removing the background like I did for this is really very easy, but time consuming. The higher the resolution of the photo the better. Sometimes working with this photo I had it enlarged to where just three pixels was about 1/2 across. At that magnification it can be hard to tell where the background ends and subject begins unless you have a high res photo.
