What do you have @ your house? Hanging or other kind of pot? Hoping to find a pot head & use some as the hair.

3 in this pot, started in place by sticking tiny little pieces of each there about a year ago.

baccifera, teres, and I can't remember what the one on the left is called.

I think that's hysterical! What a great idea! Now I have to go find a pot that looks like a head and put rhipsalis in it.

I am remembering one I saw at the thrift store that was a monkey's head made from a coconut. It kind of freaked me out at the time but now I really want that monkey head.

Bought a large lightweight pot head at Marshalls on 3/10/2017. If I knew how to upload a photo, I would.

I have rhipsalis salicornides ( dancing bones cactus) and ceropeegia woodii ( rosary vine) that I use for hair, but I also love to use some of the trailing sedum when I have them. I am looking for more pots that need hair. LOL.

Tiffany,

Garden Fun has the cutest cry bay face planters... Might look best with a spiky plant instead of a Rhipsalis, but they have lots of others too.

TY. Someone turned me onto this blog post about making pot head planters from styro heads. Cool!

What about some sedum japonicum like Tokyo Sun or sedum rupestre like Lemon Ball? Your pot's hair might have a lot of volume, but it would be fun to have a blonde.

@purpleinopp, I thought you would love this photo I took in the summer. This was on an island bar wall and used as plant decor. I found it brilliant! Not a succulent though, but you can use Donkey's Tail maybe?
ps.I'm searching this forum as I'm on a hunt for beginning my Succulent combo potting adventure.

I love it!! Is the ivy growing over the wall from the other side?

Yes, it's Ivy. I just thought of you when reading the thread and remembered this photo. Hendrix hair is legendary! (but wouldn't a Bob Marley image with some donkey tail hanging around really look like his rasta?). I think I must start going to a ceramics class, lol.

Fabulous ideas! I'm going to make one of those stone face pots out of styrofoam! Thanks for posting that.
I'm excited to have just ordered a varigated crown of thorns with red blooms. I can't wait to get it. It'll be my first varigated one, and number 3 in my growing collection of COT's!

@plantmanager, how great would that be! Please share when you finish your project, would love to see! I was thinking of making one in polymer clay and put the succulent in pot inside, I have to figure out the hows, promise to share too if I make it!

I will update with a photo if I can find a head to use. I think those heads they use as wig stands would work well.

I have a couple head pots. ( That is just an odd phrase nodding ) They are always fun to plant.

My two favorite that really looked like hair were Asparagus sprengeri (the lacy one) and Beaucarnea recurvata (Ponytail Palm) The palm is about three years old and has the most delightful wave to it's foliage, the ponytail really kind of makes my head pot look a bit like a pot head.

I love your strawberry pot Tiffany.

It has taken about 5 yrs to get this pot looking this full. Mostly dancing bones, with some R. teres. It needs my periodic intervention to stay relatively upright. Someday three will be no more space up there and then I'll let some dangle.
