Having to bright of a bulb should never be an issue. Need less light, move plants further away. Gene

Propagating Sans. If you have a colored and/or variegated plant, you'll need some of the root to keep the colors. If it is a plain green plant, you can do a leaf cutting. You can even cut that leaf into smaller pieces if it is long to begin with. And, here's the part you may not know - upside down does not work. Those leaves/cuttings must be planted right side up. After, of course, letting the ends dry out, say 2 week on a shelf. So, when I do make cuttings I make up a label for that species and it will remind me which way is up. S. Schwieinfurthii in this case. I'll add some previously posted pix of S. Cylindrica pups. Each leaf/cutting sometimes puts out more than one new plant. Gene

Some Sans make it easy. They put out pups in the air. Just wait until a sizeable root appears and you can cut off that pup. 2 weeks on a shelf and you are good to go. S. Francisii. Doubt there will any confusion on right side up here. Gene

Hey Gene, how large should I let these pups get before cutting them from the mother plant? I just bought this a month ago and 2 pups sprouted the first week and now I see a third breaking the soil.

Dump the whole thing out of the pot. Sans. are tough, won't mind. Look for the pups to have their own roots before you separate them from Mom. Gene

Sans. Robusta "Mwatate Form." 3 foot tall, 8 inch pot, I cannot imagine what a large, beautiful fan this will become eventually. Gene

On its way indoors. 9" pot. A nice Sansevieria Stuckyi. Guess I should be dividing it up into 3 or 4 plants soon. Gene

Those look great Gene. All 8 of mine are young starts, I'm seeing growth on most of them. They like these T5's you recommended.

My Variegated Striated Sans. Bat is putting out a nice pup. I have already stolen 2 pups from Mom but they (only) just looked like Mom. Stush2019 are you there? Gene

Gene, I'm still here. Was upset with new format here but just saw how it works. Hate new things at my age.
Love your collection but bring those all in every 7 months out of the year got to be a job. I'm sticking with mostly smaller growing types. Still, love to look.

I believe the site will get better as they work out the kinks. Just trying to tease you with this plant. Hey, it is small, just expensive. Gene

Gene, Do you own any Sans. trifasciata Futura 'Asahi' also know as 'Morgenstern's Futura Aurea'. Like an over grown Golden Hahnii. Grows to about 15 inches.

Thumb of 2016-09-29/Stush2019/f05eb2

I got a pup a can sent out come spring. Limited supply.

Yes, please reserve me a pup come Spring. I only have one Futura - I believe you saw it, striated. Perhaps a trade? But it is way too early to think Spring. Gene

If you have any extra pups I would certainly like to buy one. That's great looking sans.

Steve, Would love to but I have more takers than plant. I will have plenty of others to thin out. Like S. trifasciata Futura 'Compacta', S. trifasciata Bantel's Sensation, S. masoniana, S. cylindrical, S. fernwood, and maybe a few others.
I will keep you in mind. I give for postage cost or trade.

That sounds great. I assume you do this in the spring? I know it's getting late to ship anything tender.

I have been long searching for Sansevieria cylindrica and finally found one at a local Kroger on clearance. I paid too much for it because it was in a decorative container that I won't use, but I didn't care about the price. Hilarious!

It's one of those braided ones, which I don't care for a lot, but I am okay with it considering. I've counted three babies so far! Hurray!

I am planning on getting some decorative ribbon to wrap around the tops (I'm surprised the tops survived; the rubber band was so tight around them!).

Thanks for looking!
