Good morning, everyone. My name is Sylvain and I am an adenium addict.

Mike, if you order from Siam adeniums, I would certainly be interested in the Siam Curly Rose and the Siam Black Beauty. Sure, they could be pricey but you only live once. Please keep us appraised of developments in that matter.

Sylvain.

hello my name is mike and i am also a plant addict...

im talking to them about a spring order...i said i might do a co-op again in the spring but i have learned of great floods in Thailand and many of growers have a lot of there crops wiped out they dont know the state of the supply at this time. siam was NOT affected in the flood and has seen a double in there orders already. they suggest placing an order to lock in the price and hold our plants till safer time to ship. that is all the info i have to date. I am asking price on shipping last year i sent for a quote and for 12 plants was 700.00 shipping! im trying to figure out the best method and if other plants like hoyas can ship all in same box he tells me 30-50 plants cheapest way is shipping right to my house (no dollar was given) and 100+ plants then airfreight would be the way but i would have to go get the box(s) from airport which closest is 30 miles away (orlando international) or more if the cant fly in to that airport. its all just thoughts for next year but was testing the market to see how people felt about that. I think the only min they have is $ 300.00 so we could look threw there site and get butch of different kinds i just posted a few of the ones that made me go WOW.

thanks mike

Melissa you are right . I have and in contact him threw email and his website. he sent me an order form and i have got a sample invoice a few months ago as a true order but i just could not afford it and most people said no when my co-op prices they could get 10 plants for the price of one of his.

he is not flexible and there is a lot of damage to so many growers due to the floods he knows demand is going to be higher this year that ia also why he suggests to place order now to guarantee he will have plants in the spring. I have a guy that just went over there to check out the supplier that i bought form in the co-op this year. to see how he fared out and lock in prices for 2012 and push new variety's. time will tell if i cant get a lot of mine sole i wont be ordering much mabe just a few for cross breading or grafting

OK, Mike. Things aren't always as easy as we wish. We see the high prices in the nurseries, and then don't do well with trying to sell plants ourselves, pffft.

I might or might not be getting two plants from Khwarunee, an ebay seller. She has disappeared, I guess flooded out, booooo.

So! It'll be great plants from Florida, Durham Botanicals for me. And maybe one or two from one of the local plant vendors. There are several nurseries that I cruise regularly for fun and entertainment.

I wonder if any of the big growers in India ship to the USA?

yes i have also been in contact with a few in india and they will ship if you have a import permit for over i think it is 11 plants..this is a great grower and great info from one in india http://www.adeniumsindia.com/h... if you haven't looked at this site its well worth a look i have it also bookmarked im trying to learn how to pollinate and cross then in spring im going to be looking to graft

the problem is not with them getting plants out of inida it is getting them in to the USA the FDA requires an import permit for any plants in excess of 11 or 12 plants under that it SHOULD get threw but might not! and most company's will not guarantee passing threw customs. Then you need to go pick up or have someone send them on Unless like siam and others use mail system that will use usps for the small shipments. If your looking for a large order that is not feasible

sure Doris
i think i have a few of those but i can not get any more of mine to pollinate and i would be interested how close the babies from those seeds resemble the mother or take on different forms of color .

I have one of my 4-5 yo seedling putting on leaves and it looks verigated ill be waiting to see the flower if and when it does.

how would you like to be paid for them and how much?

The knowldible folks who discuss Adeniums on the Yahoo group say that double parents make about 10% double babies. And one lady there has a seedling from plants she pollinated that she says is quite fragrant.

Stranger things have happened! Choochart, the fellow who owns Siam Adeniums was hoping for a blue, before the floods, anyway. I believe he had contracts with a lot of growers, but I don't know that for sure.

Too bad you can't trust plants to come true to seed, just about every seed I have grown turns out to be plain pink, I love my plants with the darker pink veins in them
