Baker Creek has the best photos on paper, and they are all OP.

Favorites:
- Territorial
- Johnnies
- Pinetree
of course.

Kitazawa for Asian seeds in a paper catalog, Tainong Seeds for online Asian seeds.
Hazzards online for bulk packs.
Botanical Interests seed racks & online for misc & unusual flowers.

I always recommend cheapseeds.com to newbies. It's great for basic flowers, huge amounts of them, cheap, and free shipping. They just don't have the fancy newer hybrids, but very good basics, excellent germination.

Swallowtail has become a favorite of mine. Decent seed counts, good selection, good prices, good germination rates for me. I also like Vesseys. Harris has a nice selection too, lots of pelleted seeds, but kind of pricey.

When I could compare prices, Vesseys was consistently much more expensive. But maybe that was only on gadgets and doo-dads.

>> cheapseeds.com ... basic flowers, huge amounts of them, cheap, and free shipping.

Can't beat free shipping!

Maybe I'll try them next time I want just 1-2 thigns from Hazzards. My last order from them included Bok Choy, and tyhose were NOT bargains compared to tainong and Kitazawa.

Of course, nothing beats the Hog Wild Piggy Swap for variety! (See links in my signature block. It is closing down for this year, but technically the last door doesn;t close until Dec 19.)

Proverbs? I thought they were bible quotes? Anyway, yes, I find that pretty annoying too. I've never bought from Hazard's.

Me, too.

Also, I forgot to mention Pinetree seeds and Diane's and Rene's- I've been happy with all of those, too.

An order from Chiltern, England just arrived and did the math.
With the exchange rate and shipping, each packet came out to cost 2.75 each. What a bargain, as they really give you alot of seed in a packet and I have gotten theirs before and had excellent germination..
I was horrified to get an order last week from Renees and there were 10 Sweet William seeds in a packet!!

Update: I called Renees and they said there should have been 30. They said they will replace the missing seeds. Said that they are filled by machine, so sometimes it messes up.

When Baker Creek says "Minimum X seeds per packet", sometimes you get a little more than X, sometimes 2-3 times X, and recently I think I had around 500 herb seeds in a packet marked "Minimum 50 seeds".

That's why I think seed companies should tell you the number of seeds in a pack. Sometimes I call or email the company to ask before ordering.

I have had these issues with both Parks and T+M seeds. It seems to be mostly with tiny dust-like seeds. In that case, I'd rather pay a little more and get pelleted seeds that I can actually SEE, and know what I'm really getting.

Thumbs up Karen!

Renee's should be ashamed of themselves!!

Don't these companies know that they will get no repeat business when they do this sort of thing? Guess they just don't care!

Bye, Bye Renees seeds!

Has anyone ordered from Landreth Seeds, or heard about them? I just got their catalog and it is a work of art. They are also the oldest seed house in America (the first to introduce Zinnias here) and they are in pretty dire financial straits, unfortunately.

Take a look if you're interested. BTW, I did get some really inexpensive corms from them, too..... http://www.landrethseeds.com/
