Steven, where do yo have your jasmine? I am hoping they have a forum for tropical houseplants. I would love to start one but I do not know how.

Right now the jasmine is in a pot in front of the shed, You really should start a forum, just mail Trish about it

I did suggest a Tropical Houseplant Forum but Trish said I needed 5 or more interested people to do it. I had more than that but before we had any discussion they decided to move the House Plant Forum over from Cubits,and that is to include tropicals, so that was the end of the Tropical Houseplant Forum. Not my fault, I tried. There is such a difference in the regular house plants and a tropical house plant. Takes a bit more skill to keep these babies happy and growing. They also get lost in the regular house plant forums.
I doubt it was a matter of space because the are putting up individual forums for orchids, iris, all sorts of plants. The people who live in the warm climates think of tropicals as outside plants too. Oh well, we have no choice but to hang in there and hope someone realizes the difference. Maybe someday they will cut us a break.

Have you noticed the color of the new growth on your Jasmine? My big girl is so green and I am wondering if it is the iron. It must be. The smaller ones are not nearly that green and but they have not had the heavy dose that she has had.

Thats too bad about the Tropical Plant Forum, maybe you could join as an admin for the House Plant Forum and promote tropicals? The new growth on the jasmine is a much healthier green, I need to give it more iron....haven't yet....some of the blooms are still kind of deformed. But the smell is amazing!!! I also like making tea with it, just a couple blooms in a mug of boiling water makes a great cup! I hope mine gets as big and gorgeous as yours someday!

Oh Steven, I could never even try to moderate a tropical plant forum like they have here because my knowledge is limited to TROPICAL HOUSE PLANTS. That is what I keep telling them is so different. You can plant all the large leaf tropicals outside you want, but try and grow them inside. Tropical House Plants are a breed of their own and I can not seem to get that across to this administration. I am just going to visit the different groups, add where I can and then keep moving on because I see no future for a tropical house plant forum here. It is so needed for people like us and our hobby house plant gardeners. Everyone is very kind but there is a big road block up for a Tropical House Plant forum and I am not sure if it is a personal thing against me, or the topic itself. If it is me, I wish someone would tell me and I can disappear and stop wasting my time. I see so many people here who are interested in my topic but it falls on deaf ears.
Thank you for your kind words about my old girl. I hope she survives this winter. I have my doubts. She is not looking too good. She is very pot bound and I already have her in a muck bucket with holes in the bottom to drain. I can not find anything bigger.

Well, I know one thing for sure, it's definitely not anything against you! We love having you here, you've been such a great help with tropical houseplants. If we can get enough interest going I'm sure in the future they will consider having a forum for it! If it wasn't for you my Jasmine wouldn't be flowering at all. Its quite lovely even with just a few blooms.

Do you have any experience with banana plants? I just got one on clearence........I tried to overwinter one once before indoors but it didn't make it. It was a pretty sad sight.

Can you divide your old girl and start again? Alot of times I just take cuttings from my Brugmansias end of season and let the main plant die since they get so large in a summer.
