Thanks for the warm welcome! You guys are a friendly lot - and I appreciate you letting me join in.

I saw photos of Fred's seedlings in Florida - WOW! Great climate for gardening down there, isn't it? My daylilies are memories right now - nothing is showing above the mulch. Spring will bring more opportunities to garden. I'm in the middle of tax season here, but soon will be looking at pollen lists and dreaming of new crosses to make this spring. I'll be looking forward to seeing lots of bloom pictures from everybody.

I will be looking forward to what you can produce for these forms in the north! I love the extra 'stuff' on the petals. Would love to see it on UF's.

Have found in the past that things like doubling and polytepaling (what do they call that now?) are often heat related as is the multi patterned eye. Here on the coast, I just don't have the heat factor to produce the desired effect. I wonder how these new forms will react. Which is why I am interested in what you can produce up there in VT!

I hope you get some good seedlings with it. I love the form and color both. I have a cple crosses I am trying that are similar but being in the North it will be awhile before I see anything,

I agree that the heat does strange things to daylilies. This past season my seedling was under shade cloth because I used it for hybridizing, this season it will be in full sun so I can get an accurate % rate on how often it cristates. Under shade cloth it did the full thing like the photo until the last few blooms then it was not as full but still cristateing.
Jill I am actually in Alabama, about one mile from Florida as the seagull flies, the first little town when you enter Alabama from Florida.

I have been involved with some sculpt discussions with some of the people who are working with them. It seems that the sculpts may actually be more consistent up north. That would be a switch wouldn't it!

From what I have heard about growing daylilies in the north, this would be a first.
