Last winter I measured snow depth here with this tin chick.
The chick is wired to the patio table on the deck.
First real snow fall today so I thought I would start the season.

That chicken does not look very tall , I would think he would disappear in a real snowfall.

Around here we throw a cat out, if it makes it back to the door the snow is not too deep to go out Big Grin

I did this thread on the other site last inter. We had constant snow from Dec until March. The chicken disappeared. The only way I could tell if snow as melting was to look for the red comb to re appear.
We are due for a milder winter this season. It might not get burried.

Sounds like the weather we're having here. We had a few inches of snow for a week or so, but it's all gone now. Oh such fun....mud! Angry

Yeah, we are not getting our winter rains like usually either. So maybe the 10 year drought is going to go over 10 years. :(

We've had our wettest year ever- 73" of rain. No snow yet this year. In fact, no winter yet. It's 52°. By this time last year we'd already had 16" of snow.

Only really one snowstorm over an inch , but it was a good one 19 inches before Halloween. I'm sure there will be plenty to come. After the wettest summer ever we need a break.

I wouldn't mind the mild weather so much, if we didn't need the water so. Both we and one of our neighbors had our wells run dry once already this winter.

I fit into the "warmer and wetter" category on this NOAA one.

Woofie, looks like you're colder and wetter. I hope you get that wet stuff.

It's 42° and dreary here. Not complaining at all- it could be 2° and a blizzard so everything is relative.

It is finally suppose to start getting a little chilly here on Sunday. Highs will be in the 60's instead of the 70's. Now if we would just get some rain!!!
