At the request of Stuart in the UK we now have a specific place for all you European growers.
Tell us your plumeria stories, ask questions, and above all - show us your pictures!!

The picture below is of one of my plumeria blooming while I lived in the UK!

I have been 'lurking' in the plumeria threads for some time as I love them and admire them hugely when we travel to tropical zones, but I am not convinced that I would succeed in growing them. We have a house in Menton, France - zone 10a, which is frost free - and I keep thinking that they might be OK here. But it's not very humid - can you advise?

Welcome! cliftoncat. My this is an old thread you have found! But there is no reason why it can't be revived!

Menton appears to have a similar climate as Southern California and so yes, you should be fine to grow Plumeria there. You will need to make sure that in the growing months, if you're not going to be there for a while, they get watered. They are fine to go without water in the dormant months.

I actually just googled the climate and it is more humid than you think!

Thanks, Hetty. I'll give it a try, then! We have an irrigation system in the garden; I'll make sure there is a supply of water.
