A lot depends on what time of the year you purchase/plant your seeds.. these were purchased in late summer, planted in Australia , shot up small growth and winter gave them the 'big goodbye', so really, i lost a year,.,.,.But here is my opinion, and please seek many others[ as they are all good on here]..Plant seeds in mid to late spring and generally, [with good keeping] you should have flowers 16-18 months later,..,5 oz for $25 , roughly 800 seed count, with a decent anniholation rate, say 500 come to flower, in year 2 each is sold off to loving lily collecters at $5-$7.50 each depending on appeal[you do your math]- time costs nothing!!-I am really impressed with these!- and will hold back on selling, until i know what i have,.but some will be well worth showing in years to come,..,If you want a quick lilium from seed, heres a suggestion-L.Formosanum- 8 months from seed to flower. Thanks for the question Caroline. Thumbs up

Beautiful lilies from seeds!
I am trying some Martagon seeds.
They take two winters before they are transplanted,
and then a couple of years until they flower.
I am just starting so do not have any flower pictures yet.

We will all wait for them..time costs nothing-but patience is a virtue,.,.and you will be well rewarded when they flower as the bulb multiplies like crazy,..,but dont give up!!!!- you will be hit with many failures, but a few successes,.,. i have big boxes of martagon seeds here, and in 1 box, there are 2 seedlings[but thats 2 more than i had] so im on a winner!! Blinking Confused Thumbs up

Nice lily, Anthony.

I wouldn't say martagon bulbs "multiply like crazy". Some might not even multiply much at all. Most of the cultivars on the market tend to be more vigorous, but it's a crap shoot with seedlings.

Don't give up. Yes, that is the key. Sometimes lilies, for whatever reason and martagons especially, simply decide not to grow above the soil surface for season (maybe even two). More often this happens after transplanting, but I have experienced it while in undisturbed pots and even in the ground undisturbed.
