These really had very striking patched colours, they were big sized too, unfortunately none of them were blooming.
The pictures are from several plants I brought together thinking they are the same species.
Location: rainforest Paraty-Brazil

This one was taken in another area on higher elevation (mountainous and cooler) in Itamonte on my previous trip to Brazil in 2004

The spotty one looks like Neoregelia chlorosticta! I thought it could be Neoregelia and chose this species first to search amongst the many species in Brazil because of the species name!

You found it Janet! Thumbs up It is this one for sure! The picture in the German site seem to be of a much smaller species or hybrid,, it says around 25cm diameter, the ones in Brazil were giants in comparison!
