Jo Ann, I'm not so certain that the Drumsticks do that too (actually, I hope they do!) This one is one of the big tall ones, with about a softball-sized bloom. I don't like the foliage on this one so much, but it's pretty close to the ground so it hides easily. I'll grab a pic later.
Sorry, Polly - I've decided to change my avatar to my current foster-children. The one you see now is Kipper, who was just adopted by a lovely lady in Norwalk, Connecticut. There is already another baby in the pike.
Thats not my phlox yet !!!. Its Sherbert Blend. In my dreams I hope mine look like that. They will come this springand are late summer bloomers, not really tall about 20 inches.

It is definitely an eye catcher. I haven't seen that one before.
I have my phox in a perennial border. Actually it is mostly a daylily border but it has two islands of shrubs, lots and lots of lilies and bulbs. A row of different phoxes are at the back of one section of daylilies.

The alliums ( Purple Sensation ) I have bloom early in spring with the TBI's
Let me check my files to see if I have pix of the drumsticks and phlox.
I planted drums to go with lilies but found a pix with phlox.
