Thanks, Trish. I wish you and your family a very happy holiday season. When do the children get to open their presents, tonight or on Christmas Day?

Here is a table centerpiece I made for our dinner tonight. Everything is recycled. The tree is actually the top of a Dwarf Alberta Spruce that someone discarded at the local landfill. The decorations come from previous projects. There are three strings of battery operated mini lights that are difficult to see in bright light. I tried to photograph them, but couldn't get the light just right. You can probably see them better in the second photo, if you enlarge it. As always, thanks for all you do! Thumbs up

A wonderful Christmas for the Whitinger family, and the extended ATP family.
Dave and Trish, you must no doubt be thankful for the 'return to sanity' after the hassles with the new owners of DG, and we are all thankful to you for creating this wonderful new virtual home for us.
I am thankful to have been 'adopted' into two other families this Christmas, having spent a lovely Christmas Eve's dinner with one set of friends, and going to spend Christmas Day with another set of friends shortly.

May all your Days be merry and bright!

No doubt about it. It's been almost 2 years since the big ride began and it feels great to be back on a normal track for life again. Gardening and web development are two things that I'll always want to be a part of, so it's natural for me to keep doing what I love.

I am very thankful to be "back in business". We've had a great start this past 6 months and I'm really looking forward to what 2012 will bring for ATP!

We're a bit odd in that we actually don't give each other presents on this day! But we make up for it the rest of the year with big birthdays and presents randomly given. Our children would tell you that they are very well taken care of in the gifts department. Thumbs up

IMHO the most wonderful way to go! Random gifts are ever more special & delightful. I tip my hat to you.

It may seem a bit odd in a worldly perspective, but in light of the day's true meaning it really makes the most sense.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas. I don't see anything wrong with no gifts on Christmas...it's more important to focus on the true meaning of the holiday. Just had dinner last night with my DD's family over at the house of my DD's other family (her ex's mother and family...she's close to them). After dinner, they did the gift opening thing. And I know I shouldn't feel that way, but it just seemed so excessive, as far as the gifts for the young children. But not my business, of course.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White

I have also decided not to do the wrapped gift thing, now that all the children are grown.
It had gotten to the point to where I agonized about what to get for every one, and it took the joy out of the season with all the stress of getting the right thing, which usually you don't.
Now I don't have to go shopping in the crowded stores, what a blessing!!!
We just give them money or a gift card and they can get what they want, easier for us and better for them.
We still do the gift game where each person brings an inexpensive gift suitable for man or woman, then we draw numbers and steal from each other, that is a lot of fun and stress free. Smiling

Bright and sunny here in Phoenix but not too warm. Beautiful day.

Merry Christmas to all ATP, Dave and Trish. Thanks for all you do to make this so enjoyable.

I was thinking just the other day about the tradition of gifts at Christmas and Hanukkah. Read a little about the Gift of the Maji. Very interesting to read about the tradition of giving gifts at Christmas. Seems to start with an ancient Roman tradition of giving small gifts at the New Year.

Some Christian's around the world have never given gifts by tradition.

Peace to everyone Angel
