Over the last 30 plus years I have grown a lot of amaryllis...I've had success getting them to rebloom for several years and one year I made some crosses and raised the seed until a few bloomed. They weren't very exciting. I wasn't planning on getting any this year but a neighbor brought me one in a box from on of the big box stores and suggested that I plant it immediately as it was growing. it was and this is what it looked like...more pictures of it later.....That was enough to make me want more and I have bought several. I'll show them as they grow. Here is the one that started it.

Next I found this one at a grocery store. It is 'Alfresco' and is nicely double. It has a 3rd bloom stem coming so there won't be much left to it...I'll try to rehabilitate it There are 5 blooms open today.

Next I saw 'Neon' at a local nursery

There was a bulb of 'Red Lion' today which was $25 and a big as a cantaloupe. I was tempted but resisted. More later.......

Paul, your Alfresco lured me into this thread.
Mine just finished it's 8th bloom for me and it was truly beautiful.
I got it along with some others as a gift in November; by Christmas week, it was head and shoulders above the others, until Rozetta and Candy Floss bloomed.

Here's Alfresco:

Candy Floss:

Here's Rozetta:

Behind Rozetta is Harlequin, also very lovely, white with a faint pink edge, like an outline.
I've had a couple of reds over the years, but this is the first time to have whites or pastels.
I think I am well and truly hooked.

Looking at yours and others on this forum, I know I am.
Beautiful plants.

Lovely pictures Sharon. I love the form of the blossom of 'Alfresco'. But then I also like the less formal shapes of the other two doubles. I do like wide petals.....

Alfresco and Candy Floss, their forms make the others look a little ragged, I think.
You're right, Alfresco is really majestic.
