This is what my jungle looks like. The cover is falling apart so we added tarps to both ends. I only pull them closed when the temps get down to the 40s and lower. So far it has helped.

Thanks! Some of the larger plants are already in need of stakes and "hair cuts" which they got before moving into their winter home

We took mine down for repairs from the last storm and haven't gotten it back up as yet. Hope to get to it this weekend but I want to take care of some surface rust at the joints and rust proof and repaint it before getting it back up.

Jan, you better get to that PDQ! Cold, no, make that CCCCCC COLD weather is coming Monday night according to the weather guessers.

I hear that, Fortunately I have been fazing out of tender tropicals and adding more native plants that can better tolerate the climate changes here. Plus we don't get the prolonged freezed that you do in your zone so I probably won't even need the tent this year and will probably move it to the driveway eventually for a covered carport since my single garage is mostly storage.

I know where you're coming from Jan. I got tired of worrying, fretting & trying to protect tender plants when we lived down south. That's why I did away with them. And I vow not to get any here either. I don't even want to have to take a hanging basket in the house for cold nights.

I will still have a few favorite tenders to bring in but at least not hundreds. LOL My son is out there sanding and priming all of the joint and then we have to replace the tree damaged poles. If we don't get it back up for awhile it's OK. I just done want it rusting away.

That's my story & I'm stickin' to it.

When I closed up this afternoon some things were looking VERY sad Guess we need to figure how to re-work the cover somehow come spring/summer. Not sure if stuff is just "shocked" or dead. Reckon time will tell. Hurt my heart to pick up about a dozen buds from the Golden Chalice that had dropped, but on the bright side I did get 3 blooms and 2 more are looking like they might do their thing....maybe if I'm lucky

Yup...which is why the GH is so sad...cover needs replacing so the heaters don't keep up.

And plenty of winter yet to come.

The plants I need to overwinter in the greenhouse I built (from old sliding glass door panels framed in with 2x4s and replacement of corrugated tin with corrugated fiberglass roofing on an unused carport) have dwindled down to mostly just my orchids. I got really tired a few years ago of lugging plants back and forth for the seasons, but the orchids put on a show that makes the effort worthwhile.
