porkpal, it really is a good technique. The bolts alone should be enough, but having the whole board supported on a 2x6 which is on the slab really makes me confident in the floor.

Charleen, I will be sealing the concrete, yes!

Another very big day today. The lower rafters are now in and the lathes have been set on the east side.

Thumb of 2012-01-04/dave/2b6f1b

You can also see that the 4x4 posts for all the doors were also set, and the start of the walls has begun.

Yesterday was another big day but I didn't get out there for pictures. They finished the lower roofs and today they are working on setting the upper rafters. Hopefully we'll get the upper roof done today.

Looking under the lower roof:

Setting the first top rafter:
Thumb of 2012-01-06/dave/20e077

The peak is right at 20' off the ground. The rafters are 2x12s nailed (and later bolted) to the 6x6 posts. The cross beams are 6x6s nailed (and later bolted) to the rafters.

It is definitely starting to look like something:

I agree

Absolutely nothing happens on this farm without the cows' knowledge and supervision.

Such funny creatures!
